Exhibition 2009

Our Exhibition was held on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2009,
at St Mary's Junior School, St Mary's Way, Baldock, Herts. SG7 6HY.

There were over 70 quilts on display, made by our group members who enjoy using many different techniques, colours and designs.  We showed at least one quilt from most members.

The Exhibition was a huge success - we made an overall profit of about £2500, and could give £550 to each of our chosen charities -
       Garden House Hospice in Letchworth
and The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles.

We also donated £120 to St Mary's Church in Baldock, to "buy a row of bricks" in aid of the Church Tower Appeal, and gave £30 to the local Scouts group for the loan of their crockery; we will, of course, be making a donation to the school - as they did not ask for money we will be giving them a carved wooden cross, some books on sewing for the school library, and help with a sewing project for the children.

The traders who attended were:
       Studio 39
       The Home Workshop
and The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles (on the Sunday only);
and of course our own Sales Table was loaded with items made by our members.

Our refreshments team were kept busy by plenty of appreciative customers - quilters, spouses, children and other interested visitors.

Three Counties Radio dropped in on the Saturday morning; we were hosting one of the clues for their treasure hunt, and Michèle had a chance to tell the listeners about our group and the Exhibition.

The visitor's choice rosette went to Margo Leach for her beautiful Baltimore quilt. A photograph appeared in one of the patchwork magazines, and also in our Newsletter (issue 58).
